Summer Running Socks

Tomorrow is the official first day of summer, socks addicts! Stock up your sock drawer with moisture-wicking socks that are great for sweaty feet and a multitude of activities -- like running in the summer.

Runners are meant to be comfortable, no matter when and where you run. Stride for excellence in high-quality running socks at SocksAddict.com.

Believe it or not, your socks are just as important as your shoes when it comes to comfortable feet on a run, especially in the summer. Why obsess over your running shoe if you aren’t going to wear an equally great sock to go with it?

Runners, Take Care of Your Feet

This summer, make sure you’re equipped with the best of the best. Durable fibers like Merino wool, Coolmax, Nylon, Polyester, and other synthetic fabrics are great for wicking away moisture and keeping your feet dry and blister-free.

Running Sock Materials

  • Merino wool is a soft, all-natural fiber with superior moisture-wicking capabilities that keeps you cool in the summer and warm in the winter, perfect for year-round wear.
  • Coolmax is often combined with cotton, wool, or spandex and has great moisture-wicking capabilities.
  • Nylon is strong, lightweight, easy to clean and wicks away any sweat and moisture.
  • Polyester is a synthetic fabric that is quick drying, strong when wet or dry, wrinkle resistant, and easy to clean.

Running Sock Cushioning

Cushioning adds thickness to a sock. Socks with more cushioning will likely be softer on your feet, but they will take up more room in your shoe. The cushioning of your running sock is all about your own preference. Maybe you want a thinner sock with less cushioning because your shoes are a bit snug and vice versa.

Running Sock Length

Unless you’re hitting the trail, sock length is a matter of personal style. No-show or low cut socks are recommended for summer running, however, if you prefer knee high compression or calf sleeves, go for it! We recommend wearing socks longer than no-show or low cut to protect your ankles from rocks, dirt, and more when you’re running the trail.

What to look for...

  • Seamless toe closure for a smooth feel with ultimate in-shoe comfort
  • Targeted cushioning on the ball and heel of the foot
  • Elasticized arch brace to add additional support
  • Heel tabs to help prevent the sock from slipping into your running shoe
  • Performance fit to prevent slipping, bunching, and blisters
  • Achilles protection to reduce the risk of injury
  • Antimicrobial and anti odor so you can wear them longer
  • Unique mesh zones to increase breathability, control temperature and keep you dry and blister-free

Best Summer Running Socks

Thorlos Experia Prolite No-Show Tab Socks

Designed for distance runners participating in Half, Full, Ultra and Endurance events as well as training for them. The use of NanoGLIDE® as a primary fiber will assure your foot stays cool and dry. The "10x Less Friction" of the fiber virtually eliminates the possibility of getting a blister. Together these make an even bigger difference as you move into the back half of the race and as you get closer to the finish. That's when most running socks "Wet-Out" and lose their cooling and wicking abilities. That's when the superior hydrophobic properties of NanoGLIDE® move the moisture away quickly from your foot (and therefore not "Wetting-Out") will be appreciated especially if you happen to be a "heavy sweater" (Hyperhidrosis).

Featherlite Thorlos padding. 33% NanoGLIDE®, 26% Polyester.
