Best Socks for Sperry’s

The classic Sperry boat shoe we’ve come to know and love was first designed in 1935, specifically to combat slipperiness aboard sailing vessels. It was marketed towards boaters for the first couple of years until the U.S. Navy gained the rights to manufacture the shoe for its own sailors. Truly where functionality and fashion meet, it’s no wonder that the casual design, coupled with the distinct rubber soles and grooves has made its way into so many American wardrobes, especially for the summer. But what about socks?

Unfortunately, due to the open top design of the shoe, traditional socks are not meant to be worn with Sperry’s, and they should not be worn without socks. And while leather on boat shoes might stand a chance against the water, your feet certainly won’t appreciate it! The leather is even less breathable than canvas and our feet tend to produce a lot of sweat. Without a good pair of moisture-wicking socks, your feet will stay wet, damp, unhealthy, uncomfortable, and trapped in your leather shoes. Thankfully, we carry many great sock brands that feature breathable, moisture-wicking socks that are great for the summer boating season. Here are the best socks to wear with your Sperry’s.
